Week 1

1.  Give simple meaning of exercise.

– List some exercises pupils can practice such as jogging on a spot, twisting, stretching of arms and legs, jumping on a pot, running on a spot, dancing etc.

3. Identify the best bedtime that can be observed by the pupils e.g. 8:00pm – 6:00am

Train pupils to always look neat and tidy in and out of school.

i. Pupils in small groups demonstrate or do a role – play on cleaning school uniform (e.g. washing, rinsing, drying, ironing, hanging/folding and keeping).

ii. Pupils sing cleanliness songs. “Iototo lo le segunarungbogbo”.

Explain the care of ears e.g. clean with damp towel, cotton bud, rub cream on it

NOTE: Pupils are advised not to put objects in the ear e.g. stones, broomsticks, beads, etc.

Pupils are not to personally clean their ears.

  1. Pupils in a small groups clean the doll ears with damp towel, cotton bud and rub cream on it.

CARE OF THE MOUTH II

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

1.  Mention steps and tips in taking care of the mouth e.g.

– brushing of teeth two times daily

– eating after 30 minutes of brushing

– brushing teeth with soft brushes

– brush should be stored in upright position

– brush should be replaced every 3 – 4 months

– pea-size amount of toothpaste should be use

– brush for 2 minutes

LEARNING ACTIVITIES

i. Pupils in small groups demonstrate the brushing tips in the classroom, skin is not necessary as they do not need to rinse mouth.

ii. Pupils in pairs brush their mouth in up and down motion, circular motion.

TIPS: Use “Upstairs” for top teeth

Use “Downstairs” for lower teeth

NOTE:  pupils should encouraged to brush the outside, inside and chewing surfaces. Surfaces.

2. Mention and discuss how to care for the eyes e.g. rinsing with clean water, keep away from dust, direct wind, direct sunlight-rays, sharp or pointed objects etc.

CARE OF NOSE II

1. State proper care of nose e.g. use of clean handkerchief to remove dirt/mucus from the nose, cover nose when environment is dusty/stinky in order not to inhale foul odour or smoke

2. Avoid blowing nose when you have cold

3. use clean and soft cloth to clean nose if dirty

ii.  Pupils individually wash hands after cleaning the nose or sneezing

– If nose bleeds, slightly press the nose and tilt the head slightly backwards
