Finger displays, following Barney series/any other educative series

Contents

1,2,3,4,5; how many fingers do you have? E.t.c are rhymes that would explain this aspect of activity work in action.

Week 3

Circle time

  • Use of chairs and their arrangement(s)

Contents 

  • The use of chairs introduce arrangement of chair patterns to the children, and watch them explore and bring in their ideas without interruption. 

Week 4

Topic

Char displays on Animals

Children are meant to call each by name /by grouping

Contents 

Farm animals forest and domestic animals should be called by their names, and to some extent by recognized. The animal farm would be a good tool.

  • Oral construction of simple statement

Contents

  • E.g. –saying: I am a boy. (The child has learnt to identify his sex/gender
  • Replying yes I did; to a past happening he was responsible for.

LANGUAGE CURRICULUM TERM TWO

Oral and writing skills, using the Montessori phonics

LANGUAGE EXERCISE

Topic

Week 1

  • Writing skulls using knobbed cylinders, geometric cabinet, sand tray letters and sand paper numbers (blue for vowel sounds)

Content

  • The pencils grip of each child should be strengthened as they work with these materials. Colour identification should not be more than one e.g. blue , for easy retention

Topic

Week 2

  • Vowel sounds should be traced, sounded and recognized in alphabetical order, i.e. a as in axe, egg, I as in ink, o as in ox , u as in up. All in blue. There should be a rhyme taught to them to make them understand that they are 5 in number

  • Chart works would help exercises from reference books would be of greater help as practice ensures it

Week 3

  •  Relate first sounds of objects to gives sounds at homes or in school, should be recognized and coloured, children should learn to colour boldly, counts that are represented by objects. Do all other practical works on vowels i.e. representing each with an object

  • Introduction of consonant, sounds as colour code; pink i.e. b as in bag c, d, t, g, h, h, I, l, m, n, p, all consonants should be placed as out-outs or written in pink; should be separated, from vowels on class walls for early morning exercises
