THEME 1: PERSONAL / NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Week 1

Topic: Introduction to Neighborhood security. 

Performance objectives

  1. Explain the meaning of neighborhood security.
  2. Observe suspicious movements in their neighborhoods and make reports
  3. Explain the consequences of failure to observe suspicious movements in the neighborhood.

Contents

  1. Meaning of neighborhood watch.
  2. Ways of reporting suspicious movements in their neighborhood
  3. Consequences of failure to observe suspicious movements and people in the neighborhood:
  4. Dangerous people such as thieves, robbers, kidnappers, rapists and other undesirable elements may infiltrate the neighborhood. As a result, violence may occur.

Teacher’s Activities        

  1. Explain the meaning of neighborhood security.
  2. Leads pupils to Identify different security tips
  3. Organizes and helps pupils to feel the consequences of failure to observe suspicious people in the neighborhood

Student’s Activities

  1. Participate in the class discussion on neighborhood security.
  2. Participates in practical activities to help the feel the consequences of failure to observe suspicious people in the neighborhood.

  1. Different emergency phone numbers and their uses:
    • Police
    • Fire service
    • FRSC
    • NEMA, Hospitals
    • NAFDAC

Teacher’s Activities        

  1. Guides pupils to identify the different emergency phone numbers within their environment.
  2. Guides pupils to demonstrate the use of emergency phone numbers.

Student’s Activities

  1. List the emergency security phone numbers.
  2. Demonstrate the use of emergency phone numbers.

    • Examination malpractices
