CONTENT

Meaning of family:

– Family is a group of persons who live together and are united by ties of marriage, blood or adoption.

Types of family

a.            Nuclear family

b.            Polygamous family

c.             Extended family

ACTIVITIES

Teacher: Guides discussion on the meaning and types of family.

WEEK 2

Functions of each family member:

–              Every person has a role to play within the family.

–              Individual responsibilities should therefore be distributed fairly among members of the family.

Teacher: Explains the meaning of personal and family resources.

Pupils: identify and name personal and family resources

Instructional Resources: pictures and charts of some personal and family resources e.g. clothes, comb, money, etc.

Uses of personal and family resources

– Personal belongings are used for different purposes e.g. hair brush, towels, bags, clothes, etc.
