FIRST TERM CULTURAL AND CREATIVE ARTS SCHEME OF WORK FOR PRIMARY TWO

WEEK 1

TOPIC/ CONTENT

SHAPES AND SIZES

-Identification of different shapes

-Drawing basic shapes- circles, square, rectangle

ACTIVITIES

Teacher teaches and writes different types of shape.

-Teacher draws shapes for pupils to draw in their drawing books.

-pupils draw shapes and mention types of shapes.

-Teaching resources: charts, pictures, objects.

WEEK 2

TOPIC/ CONTENT

DRAWING AND PAINTING SHAPED OBJECTS OF DIFFERENT SIZES.

-Painting of rectangular, square, or circular objects e.g. ruler, chalks, stars, bowls, boxes etc. (practical)

ACTIVITIES

Teacher shows pupils some painted objects.

Teacher guides pupils to paint shaped objects

-pupils identify shaped objects.

-pupils paint different object, crayon ,pencil, drawing papers.

WEEK 3

TOPIC/ CONTENT

DESIGNING PATTERN FORM BASIC SHAPES

-Define and explain patterns and designs

-Designs on clothes , bedsheets, curtains, carpets.

ACTIVITIES

Teacher teaches patterns

-Teachers draw some shaped pattern found on designs made on bedsheets, carpets.

-pupils watches and form their own designs

-Teaching resources: some real objects containing shaped designs and patterns.

WEEK 4

TOPIC/ CONTENT

MAKE PATTERN WITH SHAPES

-Design and painting of patterns using basic shapes on cloths, carpets, curtains etc.

ACTIVITIES

Teacher demonstrate on how to form pattern and design with cut papers.

-pupils make simple patterns and design

-Teaching resources basic shapes, pencil, colours.

WEEK 5

TOPIC/ CONTENT

INTRODUCTION TO CRAFT MAKING.

-Definition of craft

-Types of craft.

  1. paper craft e.g. collage
  2. fabric craft e.g. Embroidery

ACTIVITIES

-pupils watches teacher building and joining papers together.

PAPER CRAFT MAKING AND DECORATIONS.

-definition of motif.

-Types of motif: floral, shapes, animal pictures, coin, currencies, objects.

ACTIVITIES

-Teacher defines motif:; A unit of a repeat pattern or design found on cloths, carpets etc

-Teacher writes types of motif for pupils.

-pupils write teachers works coppied on the board.

-pupils mention types of motif.

-Teaching resources: different clothes with different designs.

ARRANGEMENT OF MOTIF AND COLOURING OF DESIGNS.

-Arranging motifs to make simple repeats patterns.

ACTIVITIES

-Teacher teaches pupils how to arrange their motifs in a simple repeat pattern.

LEAF PRINT: Application of water colours on leaves and print on a paper.
